ASHLAND — Local youth gathered on Saturday at the Davy McClure Outdoor Education Center to participate in Ohio’s Youth Hunter Education Course. This comprehensive, daylong program ran from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing young participants with vital knowledge and skills related to safe and responsible hunting practices.
Under the guidance of certified instructors Don Burton and Tom Seamans, along with additional support from other Division personnel, the course covered a wide range of topics. These included firearm safety, wildlife conservation, and ethical hunting practices. The hands-on experience aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and respect for nature among the participants.
The program not only equips youth with essential skills but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among young hunters. As the day concluded, participants left with newfound knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors, ready to apply what they learned in future hunting experiences.
