Harbor, a legal technology services group, has announced the acquisition of iTrain, a company that provides technology training for legal professionals, with a strong emphasis on AI enablement. The deal brings together Harbor's existing suite of legal tech services with iTrain's specialized curriculum, which covers everything from core software proficiency to advanced artificial intelligence applications in the legal field.
iTrain has built a reputation for helping law firms and legal departments adopt new technologies efficiently. Its training programs focus on practical, hands-on learning for tools like document management systems, practice management software, and increasingly, AI-driven legal research and automation platforms. The company has maintained strategic partnerships with major legal tech vendors, including Aderant, iManage, NetDocuments, and Intapp, among others.
For Harbor, the acquisition fills a gap in its service offerings. The group already provides consulting, data migration, and managed services to law firms. Adding iTrain's training capabilities allows Harbor to offer a more complete lifecycle of technology adoption, from initial implementation to ongoing user education. This is especially relevant as law firms rush to understand and deploy generative AI tools, which require new skills and workflows.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks, with iTrain's team and existing training programs continuing under the Harbor umbrella. Industry observers note that the move reflects a broader trend of consolidation in legal tech, where service providers are building out their capabilities to meet growing demand for AI training and support.
