KINGSTON, R.I. — Dec. 9, 2024 — Students from the University of Rhode Island's Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences took part in an engaging health and wellness fair at South Kingstown High School on December 6. Approximately 70 URI students collaborated to provide valuable health education to high school students through interactive presentations and activities.
The event aimed to promote awareness about various health topics, including nutrition, mental health, and preventive care. URI students designed hands-on activities that encouraged participation and fostered a deeper understanding of health-related issues. The fair not only offered high school students the opportunity to learn from their older peers but also allowed URI students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
This initiative highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in health education, as students from different fields come together to share their expertise. The event was well-received by both high school students and faculty, marking a successful effort to enhance community health awareness.
