Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center, located in the serene rural area of Spicer, has officially opened its Nature School, situated in the newly renovated Gary Westby Observatory building. This innovative program aims to introduce preschool-aged children to the wonders of the natural world through hands-on learning experiences.
The Nature School will provide a unique curriculum that emphasizes outdoor exploration and environmental education. Children will engage in activities that foster a deep appreciation for nature, such as hiking, gardening, and wildlife observation. The program is designed to encourage curiosity and creativity, allowing young learners to develop a strong connection to their environment.
With a focus on experiential learning, the Nature School aims to cultivate a sense of stewardship for the earth among the next generation. The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of nature-based education in early childhood development, promoting both physical and emotional well-being.
