WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) has revealed that the University of Memphis is set to receive a substantial grant of $409,605. This funding comes from the Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities Program, part of the U.S. Department of Education's initiative to enhance educational opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities.
In addition to this grant, Congressman Cohen announced a total of three Department of Education grants, amounting to $922,311, designated for the University of Memphis. These grants are aimed at bolstering educational resources and support systems, ensuring that students with diverse needs have access to quality postsecondary education.
Cohen emphasized the importance of these funds in fostering an inclusive educational environment, stating that they will play a critical role in supporting students who require additional assistance.
