RAPID CITY, S.D. - A local organization focused on early childhood education has received a significant financial boost. Early Childhood Connections, which works to prepare young children for school, was awarded a $5,400 donation from Nexstar.
The group does more than just teach pre-K skills. It also supports families in other important ways. Staff distribute car seats to ensure children travel safely, and they offer parenting classes to help moms and dads navigate the early years. The donation will help expand these services.
"These funds allow us to reach more families who need a hand," said a representative from the organization. The money is expected to go toward buying more safety equipment and covering the costs of educational materials for the parenting programs.
Early Childhood Connections has been a resource in the community for years, focusing on closing the readiness gap before children enter kindergarten. Leaders say the donation from Nexstar will make a direct impact on the number of families they can assist this year, especially those facing financial challenges. The check was presented during a small ceremony at the group's offices.
