The Lafayette Parish School Board has selected Ted Davidson to fill the vacant seat representing the Carencro area. Davidson, a former teacher and coach within the parish, will serve in a temporary capacity.
The appointment was made to ensure consistent representation for the district following a recent departure. Davidson brings firsthand educational experience to the role, having previously served both as a classroom teacher and an athletic coach. His interim tenure will focus on ongoing district matters and the needs of local schools.
Davidson’s term is provisional, lasting only until a permanent board member is elected. Voters in the district will have the opportunity to select a long-term representative during a special election scheduled for this fall. Until that election is held, the board will operate at full membership with Davidson participating in all votes and decisions.
The board expressed confidence in Davidson’s ability to provide steady leadership during the transitional period, citing his deep roots and commitment to the community.
