Catholic liberal education conference gathers educators worldwide in Columbus

The diocese hosted more than 550 educators in downtown Columbus this summer for the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education's 14th annual National Conference. Attendees traveled from as far as Australia and New Zealand to take part in the four-day event, which ran from July 14 through July 17 at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel.

The conference brought together superintendents, principals, and teachers from Catholic schools across the globe. Organizers focused on the renewal of classical liberal arts education within the Catholic tradition. Sessions covered topics such as integrating faith with learning, teaching the trivium, and recovering the intellectual heritage of the Church.

Speakers included scholars and practitioners who emphasized the importance of forming students not just for careers but for a life of virtue and wisdom. The gathering also provided time for networking and sharing best practices among educators who face similar challenges in their schools.

This year's attendance marked a significant increase from previous events, reflecting a growing interest in Catholic liberal education worldwide. The Institute plans to hold its next national conference in a different city, though details have not yet been announced.
