Three Sonoma County schools honored as ‘Distinguished Schools’ by state education board

Three Sonoma County schools have been named among California’s most exceptional, earning the coveted 2024 California Distinguished Schools Award. Credo High School, Casa Grande High School, and Hillcrest Middle School have been honored by the State Board of Education for their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to student success.

They are part of a select group of only 408 middle and high schools statewide to receive this recognition. The prestigious award program celebrates campuses that have made significant gains in implementing state education priorities, including closing the achievement gap and ensuring all students thrive.

The honor is a testament to the dedicated work of educators, staff, students, and families at each school. Officials highlighted the schools' innovative programs and focus on creating inclusive, rigorous learning environments that prepare students for future challenges.

The award is especially meaningful as it marks a return of the program after a pandemic-related pause. Being named a California Distinguished School serves as a powerful endorsement of a school's educational excellence and its positive impact on the community.
