South Carolina launches EV education campaign to help drivers explore electric vehicles

South Carolina has started a new public education effort aimed at helping residents understand electric vehicles before they buy one. The campaign, called Drive Electric SC, provides a central place for drivers to find information on charging stations, ownership costs, driving range, and what it is really like to own an EV.

State officials say many people are curious about electric cars but do not know where to start. The program offers online tools and local events where people can talk to current EV owners and ask questions. Topics include how to install a home charger, how far different models can go on a full battery, and how much money drivers might save on fuel and maintenance.

The campaign does not push anyone to buy an electric vehicle. Instead, it focuses on giving clear facts so people can make their own choice. Organizers hope that by removing confusion, more drivers will feel comfortable considering an EV for their next car.

South Carolina joins other states that have launched similar efforts as automakers release more electric models. The goal is to help residents feel prepared, not pressured, as the technology becomes more common on roads across the state.
